How to Make Traveling Fun for Kids Part 3

Not sure how to make traveling fun for kids? Here are some awesome tips to help you do it right:

  • Find places to stop and let off steam — If you’re driving, your kids are going to go stir-crazy after being cooped up for a few hours. If you can find a place to stop, rest, and let the kids stretch their legs, you’ll give them a way to let out their ya-yas–making them calmer when they get back in the car.
  • Try to reduce walking –– This is important if you have smaller children (under the ages of 8-10). Small children get tired and fussy when they have to walk a lot, so find ways to reduce the amount of walking they do. Bring along a stroller even if your child is a bit older (up to 5 or 6, depending on their size), take taxis instead of walking everywhere, and take advantage of as many courtesy shuttles as you can. It will make a huge difference in your vacation!
  • Get a good breakfast –– Start the morning out with a hearty breakfast, and your kids will usually be happy for most of the morning. When booking a hotel, find one that has a breakfast buffet. Your kids will love it, you’ll tank up on energy for the day, and you can fill up for free.
  • Find child-friendly activities — Do you think the children will enjoy a tour of the Vatican, a climb up to the Acropolis, or a walk through Buckingham Palace? Probably not half as much as they’ll love puttering around some random beach! When looking into activities, find the ones your children will enjoy. Save the adult activities for your next vacation as a couple!
